My friend had an extra ticket for this Organ Celebration performance on the 4th of June 2023 at the Royal Albert Hall and asked if I wanted to come along. I didn’t know what to expect, but the RAH is my absolute favourite venue and I am a huge fan of film scores, so when I saw that music from Hans Zimmer would also be in the line up, I was eager to join and wow, I’m so glad I did. It was really interesting to see the organ in all its glory as they gave us a tour first (on the screens) of the whole instrument going behind it too. It’s insane how huge it is and learning that it also has a drum. To hear the organ in the beautiful hall was an enthralling experience. So moving too when one of the scores from Interstellar was played. All organists, Anna Lapwood, David Briggs, Isabelle Demers, Wayne Marshall and Thomas Trotter are incredibly talented with years of experience, but I have to say Anna Lapwood was my favourite and I hope she will continue to experiment with film scores, because her performance was truly unforgettable. Here is a highlights reel of snippets I filmed on the night. The first shot was actually performed towards the end of the evening with all the organists taken part, but then the clips afterwards was all performed by Anna Lapwood. I have also posted another video of one on the scores played in full where Anna asked us to take our phones out and switch on the torch. Check it out after this video.
