Meniscal tear and secondary parameniscal cyst on dynamic knee ultrasound

Meniscal tears are intrasubstance clefts that intersect at least one meniscal margin. Dynamic ultrasound evaluation during valgus and varus stress plus internal and external rotation of the tibia is useful to make meniscal abnormalities more conspicuous. Parameniscal cyst may follow meniscal tear if synovial fluid dissects through damaged structure and extends beyond the meniscal border.
