Use a DI box to get better sound out of your electric guitar , keyboards, bass guitar or MAC/PC in home recording studio or Live Events.Record two tracks in DAW at same time , one clean signal and one from guitar amp by placing a mic in front of it this would include room acoustics in recording .There are four Main benefits of using DI boxes. 1: Signal matching 2: Impedance Matching 3: Eliminate ground loop/Hum issues 4: Eliminate EMI & RF interference There are two types of DI boxed Active and Passive. Active DIs generally produce a wider frequency response while being more sensitive to distortion . They can be powered by 9V battery , external power supply unit or 48V from audio mixer. Passive DI boxes tend to be able to handle more signal level without distortion. They do not require power to operate. They use a transformer to perform the impedance matching and balancing. In the LIFT position the switch is used to prevent ground loop hum to prevent the possibility of DC voltages appearing at the audio mixer's inputs. In earth position the earth connection is active. The rule of thumb is to Use active DI boxes to connect to passive devices & use passive DI boxes to connect active devices. Passive devices = Electric/bass guitar w/o any on board battery powered tuner/EQ or used in conjunction with powered pedals. Signal output from guitar amps is classified as active device signal. Active devices = Any device that is powered either by battery or mains like analog/digital Keyboards , Laptop/Macs etc. Please like , share the video and subscribe to the channel for more AV , music and entertainment videos. Thanks for Watching.
