The Hornet has gone pretty
The Hornet has gone pretty far for an aircraft that wasn't supposed to exist. From USAF light fighter reject, to naval bird, to larger bird to replace the Tomcat, to the Block 3 to endure the F-35's adoption. Much like hornets, this thing will not die so easily.
But it does sure kill easily. The Super Hornet was already a good plane in AC7 - improve its performance and slap some LACMs, and you've got an absolute menace. Particularly noteworthy it carries 20 LACMs, a lot more than the Gripen or Rafale, saving you a parts slot. However, comparisons like that is where it starts falling short. The Gripen and especially the Rafale are two of the best aircraft in the whole game, and by stepping on its shoes, the Block III faces heavy competition. I'm pretty rusty to be honest, but even so, I think it loses out against both euro deltas.
But that is a very, very high bar. It is damn good regardless, it looks great, and the 4AAMs allow it to fly wings clean, which is just *chef's kiss*. The Block 3 can be my wingman any time... provided they ever release Top Gun Maverick.
