@radiologando ►ROUTINE: PA and PROFILE
■ Patient Positioning:
Position the patient on the edge of the table, with the elbow bent about 90°. hand and wrist
supported on the RI, palm down. Lower the shoulder until shoulder, elbow and wrist are in the
same horizontal plane.
■ Position of the Party:
• Align and center the longitudinal axis of the hand and wrist in relation to the RI, with the carpal area
centralized in relation to the RC.
• With the hand prone, arch the hand slightly bringing the wrist and carpal area into contact
close with the RI.
■ RC:
• CR perpendicular to the RI, directed to the middle area of the carpus.
Recommended Collimation:
Collimate the wrist on all four sides; include the distal radius, the ulna and the mediometacarp.
■ DFOFI: 1m
■ RI: 18x24

►Profile:
■ Patient Positioning
Position the patient at the end of the table, with the arm and forearm resting on the table and the elbow flexed about 90°.
Place wrist and hand over the RI in profile with the thumb to
up. The shoulder, elbow and wrist must be in the same horizontal plane.
■ Position of the Party
• Align and center the hand and wrist in relation to the longitudinal axis of the RI.
• Adjust the hand and wrist in true profile, with the fingers comfortably flexed; if
necessary in support to prevent movement, use a radiolucent block and sandbags. Put on
the block against the hand and fingers extended as shown.
■ RC:
• CR perpendicular to the RI, directed to the middle area of the carpus.
Recommended collimation
Collimate on all four sides, including the distal radius and ulna and the middle area of the metacarpal.
