This is a short general overview of the early-medieval to early 15th century history of the Croatian coastline, that is to say the ''communes'' towns and cities of the area. Each commune has it's own specific circumstances and histories, especially during the discussed period, but they all share some commonalities with regards to historical factors and actors that effected them.
