In this video i will be making a full exhaust system for a BSA WD-B40. Where the 'WD' stands for War Department.

These bikes were used by the Army to compete in Enduro events such as the  International Six day trials. And the customer wanted to make a system that would reflect this, by copying the style of system fitted to Works BSA Motocross bikes, such as the BSA B50mx and later the iconic CCM 500mx.

I have a lot of experience making this style of system, and have made over 60 sets in the last ten years. So the design part was easy, but the challenge came with trying to fit the system to a bike it was never made for.

It the gaps were a lot tighter than they would be on a Motocross bike, and the routing had to be extremely accurate.

As with most of my Pipes, i used the traditional technique of Sand Bending. and fabricated a Works style silencer to go with it, that contained a removable baffle. So that the customer got "the best of both worlds" with a nice loud exhaust system, that he quieten down, when using it on green lanes etc, Where he may encounter the public.

I hope you enjoy watching another episode from the Raysons Workshop.
And any feedback about the video would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Ben Hardman
