Selfishness: why we need to learn to be selfish to become selfless

Most of us are brought
Most of us are brought up to learn to please others, to do what is been told, to copy the truth of others in return for good grades or in return for approval from others, otherwise we are labeled as being selfish.
And of course it is nice to give and to do good for others, but the problem is, when we haven’t learned to fill our own cup, there is nothing to be poured out.
We our conditioned to believe that blocking out time and setting boundaries to fill our own cup is being selfish, but is it really?
Welcome to this video. I’m Tom Nuyens from the Alive academy.com. After having been brought up in a sometimes unsafe environment I learned to please others, instead of taking care of my own needs. I only learned to consider other’s peoples needs, above my own, otherwise I was judged being selfish.
If people are saying that we are being selfish, if we don’t give them what ‘they’ want, then who is being selfish?
