In her speech, Dr. Adhra highlighted the missing link between the policy makers, the decision makers, and the researchers – and the victim of this gap being society who should be the recipient of the benefit of all research conducted. That’s where The Know-Do-Implement Gap comes in. Dr. Adhra asks much needed questions: What’s the point of all the research done across the globe if the results don’t shape our approach to public health, our allocation of health resources, or the very way we govern our countries? What’s the point of all this garnered knowledge if it never benefits the public? Who’s fault is it? Dr. Adhra highlights the shortcomings that can be amended to bridge the divide between the research conducted and the benefit of the public with her speech.  Dr. Adhra Al Mawali is a veteran of scientific research. With a Master in Biomedical science, a PhD in Medicine flow cytometry and molecular biology from Australia, and as the current director for the center of studies and research in the Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman, and a winner of a lengthy list of prizes This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
