I've researched a lot of compost bin setups for Black Soldier Fly larvae over the last several weeks.
I've found that these generally fall into two categories:
1) Commercially sold units - they work but are Ultra expensive ($180 for a bin this size). This is just absurd.
2) Unproven DIY setups. Some seem very elaborate, yet they use a transparent plastic tote. BSFLs hate sunlight, so I don't see how this would ever work... Finally, the larvae collection setup is usually overly elaborate.
My goal with this bin was to create the simplest, easiest and cheapest to build, yet 100% functional setup for composting with Black Soldier Fly larvae at your home.
