It seems a distant memory
It seems a distant memory already... “It” refers to the summer expedition to the Kuril Islands, which, despite the description, took us not only to the islands in question, but to more exotic, previously unexplored places: the Okhotsk coast of Khabarovsk Territory and the Shantar Islands.
Only two months have passed, yet so much water has flowed under the proverbial bridge... So why not cheer ourselves up with some memories of last summer, especially since we just finished processing gigabytes of footage of other speakers at the event, the results of which I’m eager to share :) On the menu: a trans-Paramushir hike across Ebeko Volcano; Atlasov Island; an Olympic ascent of Alaid Volcano; a climb up the “king of volcanoes” Krenitsyn on Onekotan Island; a contactless date with Ushishir Island; a visit to Tyuleny (Seal) Island (guess who lives there?); the iconic Aniva lighthouse in southern Sakhalin; the bowhead whale in Wrangel Bay, the Shantar Islands’ calling card; and, to top it off, a breathtaking helicopter ride right along the Amur River to Khabarovsk.
