15 year old worn out carpet cleaning

This three bedrooms of carpet was over 15 years old and fairly worn out considering the sizes of the rooms that left not much room for walking space. You'll notice the wear patterns in the rooms appear to be a little darker. The reason for this is the carpet fibers have had many years of traffic causing the fibers to deteriorate and start to abrade. This causing light to reflect differently off those areas due to there being pits between the fibers giving it that darker appearance.

One way to significantly reduce this from happening is to do regular vacuuming. Depending upon how many people and pets are in the house will determine how often it should be done. Using this house as an example. Vacuuming should be done at least twice a week if not three times. There have been homes I've been to that get vacuumed this often and the fibers have minimal wear in the traffic areas. The soil we track in and dust can act like sand paper across the fibers causing that abrasion. It is recommended to also have your carpets professionally cleaned at least once a year if not more depending upon how many people and pets are in the home.
