INPUT CHARACTERISTICS OF COMMON COLLECTOR CONNECTION

In this  circuit base of the transistor serves as input and emitter is the output and collector is common to both input and output.

Signal input is given between base and collector.

Signal output is taken across emitter and collector.

Common collector circuit is also called as emitter follower or voltage follower because output voltage at the emitter follows the input voltage at the base.

It has voltage gain slightly less than unity.
The common collector is same as common emitter with exception that the load resistor is in emitter circuit rather than in collector circuit as in common emitter.
In common collector, input voltage VCB is largely determined by output voltage VCE.
Input characteristics are the curve between base current, IB and collector to base voltage, VCB at constant collector to emitter voltage, VCE.
since,
VCE = VCB + VBE
When VCB increases at constant collector to emitter voltage, VCE
Since, VBE = VCE - VCB
Base to emitter voltage, VBE decreases and hence IB decreases.
