Droopy eyelids, or ptosis, can
Droopy eyelids, or ptosis, can occur for a variety of reasons. It typically develops when people age, but some individuals are born with the condition or acquire it following trauma or with a neuromuscular disease. Regardless the cause, surgery can be done to correct ptosis, says Raymond Cho, MD, FACS, an oculoplastic surgeon at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. Most of the time, surgery is done as an outpatient procedure with only a local anesthetic. Dr. Cho explains the potential complications, as well as expected recovery time.
