It was 30 plus years ago when my wife and I caught our last Kokanee. A cold spring morning lead us to Alder Lake in Pierce County where you could find us nearly every weekend chasing Land Locked Sockeye Salmon better known as Kokanee.

Since then we have diversified our fishing schedule to the point of neglecting those small but rambunctious and tasty critters.

No more will Kokanee be safe from the pursuit of the Northwest Fishing Fanatics crew for I plan on many more adventures in the future so stay tuned. East side West side no Kokanee is safe.

On this trip Mike and I used a variety of tackle and baits to encourage savage takedowns and vicious strikes from the depths of this man made reservoir known as Lake Merwin. We walked away with a limit of 20 Kokes and had a blast reminiscing about the past, talking about present day and planning many more fishing adventures in the future.
