Modifications, setup and some testing on the Pro 4 model "ELS" from Rocketronics.
I decided to go for a 2ch version this time and also to use the possiblities that comes with this.
I have used this as well as the Basic model before on Myford ML7 and Super 7 lathes, the last 2 I did were 1ch installations, ie. only Z-axis control. I made an effort to show how such a 1ch setup functioned with this controller: how one operated it and how it performed. One of these videos is linked here Myford ML7 - ELS threading - Ifanger .... I also think such a semi-automatic "approach" functions nicely!
The video here is a bit lengthy, but I wanted to cover the ELS "up to and including as it is today" in one video. Will get back to details on the more general machine modifications later as well as further use of the ELS system.
For those not wanting to go through the entire video:
01:08 Cross-feed mod
03:05 Z-axis motor installation, encoder and ELS electronics
03:38 Belt drive system with motor
04:35 Preventive "insurance" measures: E-stop, limit switches and safety handle
06:15 Parameters setup, meny system
07:08 Constant surface speed setup and use (example)
08:45 Threading example, look at the setup menu and of course the steel bolt being turned
13:00 Radius turning example, setup and " pasient under the knife"
15:20 Taper turning example, setup and here also the POM bolt turned down
