Apple Frangipane ~ The 12 Days of Apples

Shortcrust Pastry
1 cup AP flour
1/2 cup shortning or 1 stick butter,
       cold
3 tbsp ice water

Filling
4 oz almond paste
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3 tbsp room temp butter
2 eggs
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/4 AP flour
1/4 cup applesauce

2 - 3 large apples
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp granulated sugar

top with melted butter, sugar and slivered almonds

Bake @ 375 45 minutes.
