Why Do People Have Accents? Fix Your Pronunciation Problems!

In this English lesson, I explain why people have accents. Every language has rules. Sometimes those rules interfere with each other. For example, in English we can have consonant clusters, but in some Asian languages, consonant clusters are not allowed! They need a vowel after every consonant. In this lesson I give you a good example of this interference happening between Japanese and English. Accents are not a bad thing, but when accents are too strong, it can hinder communication. In this series on pronunciation, I'm going to try to help you improve your English accent. But you have to decide which accent you want! I have a Canadian accent. If you want a British accent, maybe you should learn from a British teacher instead! 😅
