ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Investigators say
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Investigators say they found fabric, leather materials, and "unknown hard fragments" buried on the property of a murder suspect possibly in connection to the disappearance of Zebb Quinn, 18.
According to search warrant documents released on Monday, these items were found under a layer of concrete on Robert Jason Owens' property -- a Buncombe County man currently charged with murder in the deaths of Leicester couple JT Codd and Cristie Schoen-Codd and their unborn child.
Zebb Quinn went missing on January 2, 2000 after he left his job on Hendersonville Road. He was last seen at a Citgo convenience store on Long Shoals Road around 9:30 p.m. According to search warrant documents, that's near where Owens says he and Quinn got into a minor car accident and parted ways planning to settle up for damages later on and allegedly never saw each other again.
Quinn's light blue Mazda was found two weeks later at Little Pigs Barbeque near Asheville High School with lips painted on the rear window in lipstick.
Police obtained a warrant to search Owens' property on Owens Cove Road on March 31.
Listed in the warrant were the details of an interview police had with an unnamed relative of Owens who said both before and after January 2000, Owens dug out an area on his Owens Cove Road property to burn items.
This relative also told police that sometime after January 2000, Owens poured concrete over the area and said he was going to make a fish pond. The pond was never completed, and the relative said Owens later covered the area with dirt.
The listed items seized from Owens' property on March 31 are fabric, leather materials, unknown hard fragments, unknown white powder substance, metal, and concrete.
Christina Hallingse with the Asheville Police Department told News 13 via text "That case is under investigation and no additional information can be provided."
