Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee/Rochor Mee (Seafood Noodles with Squid, Pork and Prawns) Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee was a dish created by migrant Hokkiens in Singapore and subsequently established stalls along Rochor Road (which resulted in the coining of its original name Rochor Mee). One such hawker passed on the dish’s recipe to his four Teochew assistants and they proceeded to set up stalls over all island at places such as Tanglin, Balestier, Serangoon and Katong. One of the four assistants was Mr. Yeo Siew Keng and he established a street-side stall at Hougang and eventually moved to a coffeshop stall when business flourished. The old Rochor Mee name, understandably is not popularly used today. Other names include Sotong Mee and Char Hae Mee.
