This is a surgical operation of removing the vitreous humor from the eyeball (vitrectomy). The vitreous humor is a clear gel-like substance that occupies the space behind the lens and in front of the retina at the back of the eye, allowing light to pass through the lens to the retina and helping the eye to keep its round shape.
