How I installed digital scales from Shars.com on the X and Z axes of my 1949 Logan Model 200 lathe, and a tachometer readout.  Most of the hardware can be had from your local home improvement warehouse.  Some drilling and tapping is required.  The brackets that are fabricated from aluminum are straightforward.  Those that are made from steel may be a challenge for you to bend.  I used a Grizzly H3243 4-inch vise brake in my bench vise, and a cheater bar.  The crossfeed read head bracket is notched in the center to allow the crossfeed nut to pass through and thread off the end of the screw before running into the bracket or head.

I forgot to mention that I had to add some power supply decoupling capacitance (0.1uf) in the read heads to solve a serious noise problem.  Turning the lathe on and off would sometimes make the readouts change value, and turning on the gooseneck LED lamp would really make it go crazy.

I used Yuriy Krushelnytskiy's Mixed Scale controller kit, which you can get at http://www.yuriystoys.com.  Professionally done, piece of cake to build if you know which end of the soldering iron to hold.  It provides a Bluetooth wireless controller for use with his TouchDRO app on an Android tablet.  As I mention in the video, I'm using an Amazon Fire tablet, which cost me $50.  It works wonderfully well, but does require some extra work to get the app installed from the Google store.
