In this second vlog of our 3 part NZ road trip, we continue further down the North Island of New Zealand and even made it to the southernmost tip of the North Island, Cape Palliser.

For our accommodation, we stayed in Carterton, a small town in the Wairarapa. Our charming cottage was private, spacious and had lots of great character. A really nice stay with a lovely host too.

For breakfast we headed into town and ate at Wild Oats Cafe to make sure we were fueled up for our day ahead. With tasty blueberry pancakes and bacon and egg bagels in our bellies we were good to go.

After about an hour's drive from the cafe, we arrived at a place we had wanted to visit for some time, Putangirua Pinnacles. This was a filming location for Lord of the Rings, Return of the King (Paths of the Dead). The Putangirua Pinnacles are badlands and they're an incredible sight to behold. It's an enjoyable and easy-going hike too.

Our final destination was to get to the lowest point of the North Island of New Zealand which was Cape Palliser Lighthouse. It's only about a half hour drive away from Putangirua Pinnacles and it's an incredibly scenic ride. The best thing though is that the North Island's largest fur seal colony can be found along the way to Cape Palliser Lighthouse.

Next week will be our last vlog from this NZ road trip where we finally make it to Wellington! See you then :)
