The Gendarmerie Nationale are a new faction introduced into CSGO for the first time in Operation Riptide. They act as one of the two main police forces within France. The Gendarmerie Nationale is essentially the internal section of the French Armed Forces. A branch of the Gendarmerie Nationale has prominently featured in Counter-Strike games past and present - the GIGN.
Despite their close ties to the GIGN, the Gendarmerie Nationale have been given a complete set of new voice lines and are listed as an independent faction in the game's files.
