White Burgundy from one of the Old Hands of Puligny Montrachet: Paul Pernot Bourgogne Blanc 2020

This wine comes from four parcels: La Rue de Bois (0.92H), Les Closeaux (0.16h), Les Femelottes (1.41h) and Champ Perrier (1h). The vines vary in age; the oldest were planted in 1970 and new vines have been planted through the decades.

The grapes are direct pressed by a pneumatic press and left to stand for 24 hours before débourbage and racking into barrels for fermentation. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation occur, the wines are racked again, fined, then filtered lightly before bottling.

This is cleaner and more acid driven than some 2020s that we have seen, but it still shows the sunlight hours of the vintage. The nose shows a up front note of oak (entirely fermented in oak) with a orange blossom and citrus aroma set. The palate is light with zippy acidity and a flavor set of a kiss of oak balanced by citrus and minerality. D&M Tasting Notes
