Accounting for the sales of receivables (accounts receivable) compaing a sale with  recourse versus a sale without recourse, factoring of accounts receivable, (1) factoring arrangement with recourse where the risk of uncollectibility of the acounts receivable remains with the seller (borrower) and (2) factoring arrangement without recourse where the risk of uncollectibility is transferred to the purchaser (lender), sales accounts receivable with recourse the seller guarantees payment to purchaser if customer fails to pay this requires the seller to setup a special liability account called recourse liability where an estimated amount of the uncollectible receivables for the accounts receivable sold would be debited and the associated credit would go to the loss on the sale of receivables which is the amount of probrable payment that would have to be paid to the purchaser of the accounts receivable for any uncollectible accounts, detailed accounting example by Allen Mursau
