See a clear example of Jaccard similarity, also called the Jaccard index, in this tutorial video. I begin by demonstrating a visual example with a grocery shopping trip and sharing the definition of Jaccard similarity. We see the Jaccard similarity formula and use it to compute the Jaccard index between our two sets: the grocery list vs the grocery purchases. Then we explore two other example applications. First, we calculated the Jaccard similarity for two text documents. And we will answer, "What is Jaccard similarity" in the context of text NLP. Next, we see an application of the Jaccard index in data science, specifically, Jaccard similarity machine learning for a binary classification problem. We see that the Jaccard coefficient is defined for the positive class, and we also use the Jaccard similarity confusion matrix definition.
