Among our multiple trips to Jasper National Park we have been doing stops along the way to showcase campgrounds to help you prepare future trips better. Today we stopped at the closest campground from the Athabasca Falls and one of the best sites to get access to the Athabasca River: the Mount Kerkeslin Campground. The campground is usually open late May to early September with all sites available on a First Come, First Served basis. No reservations possible. - Campsites: 42 - Site type: Unserviced, with fire pit Best suited for tents as well as motorhomes and trailers under 25 feet. This shaded campground is an excellent stop-over for tenters and RVers looking for peace and quiet along the Icefields Parkway. Located along the Athabasca River, it is just a short drive from the iconic Athabasca Falls and only 34 km from the town of Jasper.
