Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is one of the most attractive mid-range smartphones of 2018 and 2019.
In this review we will explore its top 5 features (an even more than that! :-) )
1. Battery
4000 mah. This is how big the battery of the Redmi Note 6 Pro is. Same capacity as the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which is very often being compared to. Battery life depends on a few things: size and brightness of the screen, OS features, apps that you use, standby time optimization, amount of SIM cards used and cell coverage, and – of course the processor.
A quick comparison to OnePlus 6:
You would be surprised: Oneplus 6 – 3000mah battery and close to stock Android – around 30 hours per cycle with around 3 hours screen-on time. Note that the value is not great because I live in area with poor signal. But – the same conditions, Redmi note 6 pro. 40+ hours autonomy, Screen on time was close to six hours!
2. Cameras
Main shooter is 12MP, f/1.9. It’s actually pretty good! The photos that it takes are colorful, with plenty of detail. There is HDR mode – does excellent job, and AI mode – to make the photos even better.
Maybe the front setup brings the redmi Note 6 Pro very high at the selfie camera hierarchy! Yes – again a dual cam setup – at least some good use of that ugly notch. 20 megapixel and 2 megapixel cams are taking care of getting you some of the best looking selfies! Very impressive. And for camera performance – for a sub 200USD device – perfect.
3. CPU/Chipset
The Redmi Note 6 pro does the job right, being powered by the octo-core Snapdragon 636. The choice of processor here is very reasonable – budget oriented, but at the same time not sacrificing performance. It is relatively cold CPU, and you won’t feel any overheat issues as it used to be with some of the older 600 snapdragons. Accompanied by 4GB RAM – and there you go – a device which will will be great for at least another couple of years in the current mobile industry dynamics.
4. MIUI.
First of all – it looks quite well. Not too colorful and polished, just about right. It has themes support – with very rich gallery. Stock android cannot do that. It has a very capable dialer with perfect dual-sim integration, which google is far behind. There are of course things that I don’t like that much. The settings menu is a little weird. During the two weeks of usage I have seen no issues, no crashes, and performance is quite good. I can barely feel the downgrade from snapdragon 845 to snapdragon 636.
5. Price.
This is the best part. You know – I am very excited about this phone – performs well, makes good photos, has very good sound, perfect reception, the display – very well calibrated! That all is priced at less than 200 bucks.
