1. What is 5G ?
5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks.

2. What are the 3 bands of 5G?
5G is divided into three frequency bands (low, mid, and high). Each band has different capabilities: the low band (less than 1GHz) has greater coverage but lower speeds, the mid band (1GHz–6GHz) offers a balance of both, and the high band (24GHz–40GHz) offers higher speeds but a smaller coverage radius.
3. Launch
Airtel says that it will roll out 5G services in several cities across the country by March 2023 and across India by March 2024.
Jio will also start rolling out the 5G by this year to select cities. and across india by Dec 2023.
Vodafone, however, has offered no specific timeline for the launch or coverage of the ultra high-speed internet services.

Do you need a new SIM Card to use Jio 5G?
You will probably need a new Jio 5G SIM to access the 5G network. Jio has built a standalone 5G, that is, a whole new infrastructure for 5G. Since “Standalone 5G” doesn’t depend on the existing 4G network, you won’t be able to continue with your 4G SIM card to enjoy 5G services. Jio Standalone 5G network will provide cheaper, faster and more powerful services than the competitor’s NSA 5G network.

When it comes to Airtel, they have repeatedly been building 5G services on the existing 4G infrastructure. This means that you should be able to continue with your 4G SIM card and still enjoy 5G services on your Airtel SIM card.
