NO TOOLS! Truly calculate EER of ANY HVAC system! Non invasive!
Here is the formula:
(3600 X KH factor on utility meter) X Total disc revolutions
Take above answer and divide by total seconds timed
The answer is watts of the HVAC system
Take the BTU of the system, and divide by watts=SEER of system
(Remember, look at the model number of the outside equipment to have a 12, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, or 60) Whatever that number is, just add 000 for the BTU's. Example: 30 was our number on the "MODEL NUMBER" OF OUR TESTED SYSTEM, so we just add three zero's (30,000 BTU). So 30,000 BTU / 2627 watts = 11.41 EER!
You can also get the watts from the equipment using a simple multi-meter found on Amazon. Just take the watts measured on the multi-meter to do the math the same way with the BTU of the outdoor equipment!
