Density Determinations in the Chemistry Lab

The Chemistry Laboratory Series: Density Determinations
In this lecture we’ll look at incorporating the first two general chemistry labs of mass determinations and uses of volumetric glassware to determine the densities of solids, liquids, and solutions. Densities are determined for  regularly shaped object, irregularly shaped metal pellets, pure water and a pure unknown liquid, along with sodium chloride solutions. I also show how to plot an x-y scatter graph in excel for the standard sodium chloride solutions and creating a calibration curve and adding a trendline with an equation to the graph. A detailed explanation of my class's lab is presented for my students. This lab corresponds to the volumetric lab from Zumdahl's 10th edition.
