Irish Taoiseach Simon Harris responded to the Israeli accusation that his state is on 'the wrong side of history,' saying it was 'a little bit hard to hear that.' He went on to state that the actions of the Netanyahu government right now are allowing a humanitarian catastrophe to unfold in Gaza, in particular.

The new prime minister of Ireland, who assumed office days ago, says that they believe reason has now been replaced by revenge, and they believe there needs to be an immediate cessation of violence while also assuring that Ireland is extraordinarily clear about the right of Israel to live in safety and security.

The Israeli accusation that Ireland is 'on the wrong side of history' came from the Foreign Ministry last Thursday while criticising Ireland’s new Prime Minister for not mentioning the hostages during his first speech after being elected leader.

Harris was elected on 9 April and condemned Israel's war in Gaza in his first speech, stating that men, women, and children were being slaughtered while also condemning the Hamas attack on 7 October.
