What is Gesture Drawing and how to use it

In my class Dynamic Drawing, one of the drawing techniques we spend a lot of energy trying to master is Gesture Drawing. And It's something I use quite a lot in my work, to endeavor to give my figures more energy.

The quick study of moving subjects is how I get people to learn it in class, because a key to good gesture is some degree of speed and getting away from a precious sense of getting things "right". Trying to draw someone moving, is a good way I think to do that.

I'm drawing with a Berol Prismacolor 902 dank blue. Working very lightly, so i've boosted the contrast just now. And on smooth marker paper.
