I'll review the Electro Voice
I'll review the Electro Voice re20 & nd68 microphones, demo them on snare drum, kick drum, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and voice. We will also record drums to analog tape on the tascam 388 and put these microphones through their paces!

Ok so does the EV RE20 suck? NOPE. Does the EV ND68 suck? NO SIR. These mics are excellent. I was impressed. I'm going to be using these on my upcoming sessions and they will be part of my small microphone army. In fact the ND68 sounded so good on kick that it's probably going to be my go-to kick mic from now on. It hardly needed any EQ, just light compression. It's rare that a mic sounds that balanced.
The RE20 is a super versatile dynamic mic with a very smooth sound. What's weird is that I found that plugins respond really well to this mic. It may be that it is a mid heavy mic, or there might be some other reason that I don't understand, but it just always sounds smooth in the box. The RE20 is surprisingly versatile and it worked on every source, it's pattern is nice and even, and if I needed more highs I could just crank them in the box without hiss or noise. Since it has a built in pop filter, it's a great podcast or broadcast vocal mic and you don't need a pop screen. Just throw it on. I am impressed. Electro voice makes some solid mics.
