Although I own both the Rubik's 4x4 and also Eastsheen 4x4 Cubes, I was looking for another 4x4 cube with which I could speedcube.  I heard that the Meffert's 4x4 cubes were very durable, spun nicely, and could cut corners, so I decided to order them and check it out for myself.

I can say that both the Meffert's Black and also White Master Cubes are very good for speedcubing.  For one, the turning on both is exceptional, with very little to no catching of the pieces/layers.  They are also able to cut corners a lot better than Eastsheen Cubes.

The Master Cubes are tiled, as opposed to stickered, and each tile has a nice matte texture on it, giving it a nice grip.  One corner tile on each side also has a little logo which says "Meffert's Challenge (tm)".

The size and also mechanism of the Meffert's 4x4 is very similar to the Rubik's 4x4 brand.  However, because of the protruding tiles, the Meffert's is slightly larger and bulkier.  The internal ball mechanism is also seemingly tighter and allows for a nice smooth rotation of the pieces and layers as a whole.

Overall, I would recommend getting a Meffert's 4x4 Cube, either black or white, if you are looking for a good 4x4 cube for speedcubing or even if you are a beginner.  You can order from http://www.mefferts.com (while supplies last!)
