Chicken Shawarma Sandwich (Better than takeout!)

I love a good chicken shawarma sandwich, and decided to bring the takeout experience home with this recipe. The best part is that you can load it up with all the toppings, and sauce that your heart desires :D INGREDIENTS For the chicken 4 chicken breasts, each sliced lengthwise 1 tbsp, olive oil Juice of 1 lemon 1 tsp, ground cumin 1 tsp, ground coriander 1 tsp garlic powder ½ tsp, cayenne chilli ½ tsp, turmeric ½ tsp, black pepper Salt to taste For the tahini sauce ½ cup, tahini Juice of 1 lemon ½ cup, warm water Salt to taste For the salad ¾ cup, finely diced plum tomatoes ¾ cup, finely diced cucumber ½ cup, chopped fresh parsley Squeeze of lemon Salt to taste To assemble 1 tbsp, olive oil 4 pita, warmed 2 cups, shredded iceberg lettuce Pickled turnips Hot sauce METHOD Place all ingredients for chicken in a bowl, and toss to coat. Marinate for 10 minutes, or up to 2 hours. Add all ingredients for tahini sauce in a bowl, and whisk until smooth. In another bowl, toss together all salad ingredients. Add olive oil to a large frying pan and heat on medium-high. Once hot, add chicken in one layer ensuring not to crowd the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until chicken has completely cooked through to the middle and has become golden brown and crispy on the outside. Chop chicken into small cubes. To assemble, warm pita and top with shredded iceberg lettuce, salad, and the chopped chicken. Drizzle tahini sauce over the top, and garnish with hot sauce and pickled turnips. Enjoy!
