In this video, we suggest how to perform the measurement of isometric forces produced by the muscles responsible for shoulder flexion using the EasyForce digital dynamometer in a clinical setting.

The patient should be sitting comfortably. The wrist attachment is firmly placed proximal to the elbow joint while the device is anchored to the bottom of the bed/table on the opposite side. Ensure that EasyForce anchor points are in line with the movement trajectory. Instruct the patient to maintain the neutral spine position and to avoid the lateral flexion. To additionally eliminate compensations, apply manual pressure to the opposite shoulder while the movement is performed.

Once you have the patient in position, turn the device on. Make sure the device is not under tension when you press the measurement button to prepare to take the measurement. Once you have pressed the measurement button, you can tell the patient to apply force in the appropriate direction. The device will beep throughout the measurement.

When complete, the patient releases the applied force and the measurement results are shown. Results include peak force, average force, time to peak force and time under tension.

You can save the measurement by pressing the measure button once more to return to history view. Otherwise, you can delete the measurement by pressing the delete button.

Combine EasyForce with the EasyAngle Digital Goniometer to give your patients accurate quantified measurements every time.
