Officer Eugene Goodman gets standing ovation in Senate

The Senate is awarding the congressional gold medal to U.S. Capitol Police officer Eugene Goodman. Friday, in a rare moment of unity in the Senate, lawmakers applauded Goodman who became a national hero for his actions defending the senate during the siege of the capitol on January 6.

That was after Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer paid tribute to Goodman and announced that he would ask the Senate to pass legislation for the award.
