Knowing that he is as good as done for he selflessly sacrifices himself allowing Chris to escape from the underwater complex. This scene is heart wrenching as captain Redfield has already lost rest of his team during this mission and it st5ands as the last time to date in which we see such raw emotion from Chris in the series.
