Today marks the 30th anniversary
Today marks the 30th anniversary of the first game that LucasArts released exclusively on CD-ROM, Star Wars: Rebel Assault.
In the three decades since its release, Rebel Assault is oft forgotten and maligned in the history of Star Wars video games. However, it played a massive role in charting the way forward for video games and LucasArts that has gone forgotten.

Star Wars: Rebel Assault is a space combat rail shooter developed and published for MS-DOS by LucasArts (originally and currently LucasFilm Games) in 1993. It was later ported to Sega CD and 3DO.
Rebel Assault is a non-canon, alternate universe take on Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. You play as Rookie One, a new Rebel pilot from Tatooine, who finds himself at the heart of the Galactic Civil War battling the forces of the evil Galactic Empire. The game takes you from Rookie One's first training missions to the assault on the Death Star as we fight to restore
freedom to the galaxy....
