Xennials FTW | BETTER OFF DEAD (1985) MOVIE REACTION! FIRST TIME WATCHING!

Back with another movie reaction from our "Remember the 80's" series! A FUN AND QUIRKY COMEDY! Better Off Dead Reaction, Recap, Review! Pete welcomes back Shanee and Stacy Page to watch this hilarious classic from the 80s. Lane Myer is a teen with a peculiar family and a bizarre fixation with his girlfriend, Beth. When Beth dumps Lane, he decides to kill himself, making bumbling attempts at suicide. Outside of his morbid endeavors, Lane spends time with his oddball buddy, Charles, and befriends Monique, a visiting French foreign exchange student. Eventually, Lane resolves to race Beth's obnoxious new beau, Roy Stalin, on the ski slopes, with unexpected results. This movie was directed by Savage Steve Holland who also directed another John Cusack movie called One Crazy Summer. An overall enjoyable experience watching this for the first time. If ever you wondered how quirky and odd the themes of the 80s were, this movie displays them in full force. Better Off Dead does deal with some heavy themes such as suicide that may be deemed controversial in today's age, but it's overall message of hope can be appreciated throughout all ages. This film does not seem to garner the same kind of classic status as some of its contemporaries like The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, but it is a definite must watch!
