The NHS uses your patient data to support planning and research, like deciding where to provide new clinics or GP services, or as with the COVID-19 pandemic informing guidance, government response, and vaccine planning. NHS Digital is the part of the NHS that collects, processes, and makes data available to improve everyone's health and care. And we're making improvements, we're simplifying processes, reducing the burden on general practices and allowing them to focus on patient care. We're also improving data security. You can always opt-out if you like, but we make sure that your data is only used to improve health and care, and we will never share it for marketing or insurance purposes. We hold your data securely and depersonalise it wherever possible, and we only share it with trusted NHS and research organisations who will use it for the benefit of health and care. So you can take pride in knowing that your data is helping to make us healthier, for you, your family, your friends, and your future.
