LG Electronics announced on Tuesday, August 15 that the StanbyMe Go, a portable LED touchscreen, is available for pre-order for $1,000 and will begin shipping later this month.
StanbyMe Go is a multimedia center packed in a suitcase that you can take with you. The 27-inch 1080p LED screen is attached to a hinge, so you can lift the screen, set it at an angle, flip it to portrait mode, and then fold it back up.
According to LG, the 20-watt speaker adapts to screen rotation and provides surround sound with Dolby Atmos support. Dolby Vision extended dynamic range is also supported. There is a built-in battery inside the case. As for the battery life, it is about three hours.
The display has an HDMI input, so you can connect a game console. It can also display content from Apple devices via AirPlay. The built-in app store gives you access to games and streaming apps like Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video and Max. Those who order the device by August 27 will receive a $200 XBoom 360 Bluetooth speaker as a gift.
