How to Use a Rotary Evaporator (Rotavap)

This is a video from FabioChem demonstrating the correct way to use a rotary evaporator (rotavap). Details not explained in the video (in educational settings, these will usually be done by your instructor): 1. You will need dry ice (isopropanol) in the cold finger and some liquid nitrogen in the vacuum trap 2. You will need to set the water bath temperature appropriately; this depends upon the boiling point of the solvent you are evaporating (generally between 24 - 45 C) 3.
