Flap design and suturing for Periodontal Regeneration of a Furcation Grade 2 and an intrabony 3-wall defect.
Emdogain (Enamel Matrix Proteins) is an active biological agent which is shown to promote periodontal regeneration by means of stimulating the differentiation of mesenchymal cells to cementoblasts and other biological functions. It is applied after elevation of full thickness flap, conditioning of the root surface and closure. The flap is designed to offer full access to the defects, while also fast and complete primary closure with no tension in the sensitive papilla areas.
In this exercise, the flap is designed with simplified Papilla preservation (47-46), Modified Papilla Preservation (46-45 and 45-43).
After application of the Emdogain, the flap is closed with an interrupted (47-46) and an internal horizontal mattress suture (46-45 and 45-43) and completed with two interrupted prolene 5-0 sutures.
