Lisa Roet sculpture: Ape Right Hand

For more than three decades visual artist Lisa Roet has won acclaim in Australia and internationally for her powerful investigations into the complex interface between humans and our simian relatives.

Through the image of the ape, Lisa questions our own animal nature, as well as our understanding of our relationship with other species and the environment.

In this video Lisa explains the ideation and creation of Ape Right Hand, a sculpture recently commissioned by Melbourne Grammar School.

Ape Right Hand is the latest addition to the School’s Sculpture Walk on the South Yarra Campus.

The Sculpture Walk celebrates contemporary art and its ability to inspire, provoke and stimulate students and the wider School community.
