Santa Cruz gravel and mountain bike racer Keegan Swenson was on a tear in 2023, winning seemingly on command across the United States. He won Unbound Gravel, SBT GRVL, Belgian Waffle Ride Arizona, Crusher in the Tushar and Gravel Nationals on gravel, and Sea Otter Fuego and Leadville 100 (in record time) on the mountain bike.
How does he train to race at such a high level in such long events throughout the year? That is the primary question I put to his coach Jim Miller, who is also Chief of Sport Performance at USA Cycling.
Jim's job for years has been to identity world-class talent in American riders and then help them achieve their best, often with a focus on Olympic medals.
