Why are bees so important!!!
We want to tell you why we love bees and so should you!
Do you like honey? Cherries? Peaches? How about Blueberries?
Well you can thank a bee as a bee is responsible for nearly one-third of the food we eat!
Bees play a very important role in our world as without bees, we might not have flowers, fruits, vegetables, and other plants.
Why do you ask? It is because many of our fruit and vegetable require the bee to pollinate it to grow.
In fact, bees are the world’s most important pollinators of food crops for humans and animals. For example, cows are fed alfalfa and alfalfa requires the bee to pollinate it in order to grow.
So you see bees are so important for us to be able to live.
Now let’s talk about pollination! What is pollination?
Pollination is a very important part of the life cycle of plants as they cannot produce fruit or even seeds unless they are pollinated.
Pollination is when the Bee flies from flower to flower gathering nectar. When a bee lands on a flower, some of the flower’s pollen sticks to the bee’s body, and when the bee flies to the next flower, the pollen it was carrying falls off and pollinates it. This is when our plants can grow.
Did you know that bees also make honey. Honey is that sweet and sticky stuff that we eat to naturally sweeten our food. In fact honey is sooo good for you that is the ONLY food that includes all the ingredients to be able to keep us alive.
Honey is also the only food that truly last forever and that will never spoil.
So you see, bees may be tiny small insects but the role they play on our planet is huge.
Now, I hope we have convinced you that bees are the most incredible and amazing creatures and so it's important we protect them. If bees thrive we thrive!
