2024-07-14 12:30 pm. Sunday celebration of the Holy Mass

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the celebration of the Holy Mass for the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Our readings today invite us to reflect upon the kind of prophet we choose to be.  In the First Reading we have Amaziah, a priest for the king, and Amos who is a prophet for the Lord.  Amaziah only does what the king wants him to do.  Amos, on the other hand speaks for the Lord, the king of the Universe.  We have only one God and it is him that we are to follow.  Our second reading reminds us that we have an inheritance through Christ Jesus our Lord.  In our Gospel, Jesus sends out the disciples and reminds them that he will be with them through all their trials and sufferings.  He also tells them that the Holy Spirit is with them and will tell them all that they need to say.  Lord Jesus, may we follow in your footsteps and give praise to you for all that you have given to us.

The Responsorial Psalm is Psalm 85:  "Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation."
